Indigenous Forum – Sustainable Practices with Native Professionals
Join our panel of engineers, artists, and land stewards who will discuss their professional journeys and share their personalized tips and strategies to help guide you in your academic, professional, and personal endeavors. This panel invites the community to listen and learn from Native professionals at different stages in their career path, within STEAM fields. These professionals will reflect on questions like What is burnout? How can I land an internship? What sustains you? What does sustainability look like for Native-led spaces? This conversation will be geared towards youth attendees, who are invited to participate in resource sharing and ask questions. Moderated by Nazshonnii Brown-Almaweri. Artist, Dancer and Somatic Movement Educator
brooke smiley, an Osage earth artist, dancer and somatic movement educator who works with Native and non-Native communities, national parks, and institutions worldwide to enliven public art experiences, seeks to capture the complexity of contemporary Native identity across generations through the collaborative creation of embodied earth markers and multisensory dance performances. Her choreographic and earth works are intended as embodied acts of change that can catalyze a deeper awareness of Indigenous, environmental, and social justice issues.

Ras K'dee, a Native California Pomo/African musician, community educator, and lyricist, producer, and lead vocalist/keyboardist for the renowned and widely traveled Bay Area-based live world hip- hop ensemble, Audiopharmacy, is also the founder of The NEST Community Arts Center, (Forestville CA), an Indigenous Led, sustainably-built hub for all artists; and the editor/producer of SNAG (Seventh Native American Generation) Magazine, a Native owned arts and culture magazine.
