Redbird Willie, a true native of California (of Pomo, Wintu, Paiute, and Wailaki ancestry), is a multi-faceted artist (graphic design, illustration, painting, wood and stone sculpture, basket-weaving, etc.) as well as a highly experienced Permaculture design instructor. Land Manager for the Cultural Conservancy’s Heron Shadow land project in Sonoma County where he shares and practices his skills in traditional Ecological Knowledge (TEK), including habitat restoration, cultural revitalization, and fire ecology, Redbird, who has taught people of all ages from elementary schools to universities, has, among his many roles been: an organizer of the annual Buckeye Gathering; an instructor for Weaving Earth; and an advisor for Daily Actsʼ Leadership Institute.
