Youth Program – Caucus Space for White-Identifying Youth
In this interactive session we will focus on becoming better friends, relatives, community members and allies. We will meet each other in compassion and kindness, learn some of the historical context of “whiteness,” practice unlearning our conditioning, and take a next step (from wherever we are!) on our individual journeys of racial literacy. Together, we will crowdsource solutions for how to recognize and respond to the racial harm taking place all around us. Through honest reflection, embodied practice, and mutual support, we will explore what it means to show up in the world with humility, courage, and a commitment to transformation. This session is offered as a youth-centered space, but non-youth participants are invited to attend as supportive witnesses. Facilitated by Lauren Gucik and Hilary Giovale.
