Elizabeth​ Dunne

Elizabeth​ Dunne, an attorney with 20+ years’ experience representing communities, nonprofits, innovative businesses, and Nature herself, founded the Cascadia Bioregion Program at the Earth Law Center and has advanced many of the groundbreaking “Rights of Nature” laws in the US, including serving as counsel and advisor on the first court cases filed on behalf of ecosystems. Some of her cases have been featured in a few award-winning documentaries, including: Invisible Hand and Last Stand: Saving the Elwha River’s Legacy Forests. She was also closely involved in advocating for breaching of dams on the lower Snake River, authored a published law review article on the US Army Corps’ executive authority to breach the dams, and co-launched a campaign with ELC and partners to recognize the rights of the Snake River and the Southern Resident Orcas.
